What is a screening mammogram?

This is an imaging test to find breast cancer. It uses x-rays to take images of the breast. There are two different types of mammograms, screening a diagnostic. A screening mammogram is used to fine breast cancer in women who do not have any breast symptoms of complaints. A diagnostic mammogram mammogram is used to look for the cause of a symptom- such as a woman who has felt a lump in her breast.

Why should I have a screening mammogram?

Early detection is key! Screening mammograms help find breast cancers early, before you are your doctor can feel any changes in your breast. When found early, the chance of cure is higher!

Are mammograms safe?

When you have your mammogram, you are exposed to a low level of radiation. This low dose of radiation is very safe and not likely to harm your health.
