Ecclesiastes 13:1-8

Everything has its time & each season brings new transitions that elicit different feelings & different choices that help to shape our lives. Our challenge is to continue to move forward in the living of our days making healthy choices as we transition from one season to the next, growing ever closer into the image of God in Who’s image we were created & called to reflect.

WALKING FORWARD IN THE LIGHT: Part 1

Our life, given to us by God our Creator in whose image we are created, is composed of a constant flow from one transition to the next. Some transitions are more challenging than others. The book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament tells us that for everything there is a season & a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born & time to die; a time to plant & time to pluck up from planting; a time to kill & a time to heal; a time to break down & a time to build up; a time to weep & a time to laugh; a time to mourn & time to dance; a time to throw away stones & time to gather stones together; a time to embrace & time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek & a time to lose; a time to keep & a time to throw away; a time to tear & time to sew; a time to keep silence & time to speak; a time to love & time to hate; a time for war & time for peace. Everything has its time & each season brings new transitions that elicit different feelings & different choices that help to shape our lives. Our challenge is to continue to move forward in the living of our days making healthy choices as we transition from one season to the next, growing ever closer into the image of God in Who’s image we were created & called to reflect.

Regardless of what season we may find ourselves in, there is no question that we will be facing some sort of transition that will require us to make choices. The question for all of us is; what informs the choices we make & how do we find our way to navigate through our various transitions or seasons in our lives in a way that leads us to a whole healthy life that opens us up to reflect the image of our Creator God & thus feeds our soul.

There are many verses in the Holy Bible that tell us that God & Jesus are the Light of the world. In the Gospel of John 8:12 Jesus is quoted as saying: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”. In Psalm 119:105 we read that: “God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet, a light that illuminates the darkness.”. Therefore, according to the Holy Bible, it is God’s Word that will help us find our way through life, for His Word is the Light that will show us the way. When we find ourselves walking in a transition that brings a spirit of darkness to our being, be it depression, anxiety, fear, grief, physical or mental illness, hopelessness, etc., it is the Light of God’s Word that will light up our path & show us the way through our transitions to healing, wholeness & peace.
