Treat Yourself Tuesdays
One of my favorite things to make for dinner is breakfast. It’s quick, easy and usually pretty cheap. Last night for dinner I made a staple, French toast. My secret ingredient to making the best French toast is vanilla extract. It takes your French toast to a whole new level of savory and sweet. It’s something the whole family can enjoy.
What you’ll need:
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
4 Large Eggs
½ Tablespoon Cinnamon
6 Slices of Bread (I used fresh Italian for this recipe, but a favorite is Challah bread)
Start by heating up a nonstick frying pan over medium heat. In a bowl (I used a pasta bowl because it’s nice and wide) whisk together your eggs, cinnamon and vanilla. Off to the side slice your bread of choice into thick slices, or use precut bread. This recipe makes about 6 slices, feel free to double it to make more.
Take your slice of bread and dunk each side in the egg mixture, make sure they are nicely coated. Have a clean plate ready on the side to stack your French toast pieces. Once all of your slices are coated in the egg mixture, it’s time to fry them up.
Cook your toast until it is golden brown on each side, or about 4 minutes on each side. Once they are cooked pair with some fresh fruit or sausage. Also top with your favorite toppings, I put a bit of real maple syrup and some blue berries on mine, so yummm.
