There are treatments available to New Yorkers to help treat a positive diagnosis of COVID-19.  Learn more about these treatments and how to access them!

COVID-19 Treatments for New Yorkers

New York residents who test positive for COVID-19 can now seek treatments that help prevent severe disease.

Being vaccinated makes you much less likely to get very sick with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.  However, some vaccinated people, especially those ages 65 years or older or who have other risk factors for severe disease, may benefit from treatment if they get COVID-19.  Although treatments require prescriptions, all New Yorkers are eligible regardless of income or health insurance coverage.

COVID-19 treatments work best when you receive them as soon as possible.  It's important to get tested and talk to your doctor right away if you receive a positive diagnosis.  Even if your symptoms are mild, you should still contact your healthcare provider to determine if a COVID-19 treatment would be of benefit to you.   In order to be effective, treatment must be given within days of developing symptoms.  Patients of Inspired Health Group of Orchard Park can call or message their care team through their patient portal to discuss treatment options.

The following treatments have proven to be effective against COVID-19 and are available throughout New York State:

Monoclonal Antibody Treatment

Is a treatment type that helps the immune system recognize and respond more effectively to the virus.  Monoclonal antibodies, or mAbs, are given soon after a positive COVID-19 diagnosis to help fight infection and shorten recovery time.  It is also given as a preventative treatment to those who are not COVID-19 positive but who have immune system issues or who are unable to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Antivirals

These treatments work by targeting specific parts of the virus to stop it from multiplying in the body, helping to prevent severe illness and death.  Antivirals are given soon after a positive COVID-19 diagnosis to help fight infection and shorten recovery time.  Antivirals are administered as either via intravenous (IV) drip or as a tablet or capsule.

All COVID-19 treatments require a prescription:
