Galleri Early Detection Cancer Test

The vast majority of cancers show no symptoms until later stages when treatment options may be limited.

Today, many cancers are found too late when outcomes are often deadly.

Routine screening is regularly recommended for ONLY 5 cancers today:  

1. Breast - Mammography
2. Cervical - Cervical Cytology (Pap smear), high risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) test
3. Colorectal - Colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, fecal tests
4. Lung - Low dose computed tomography
5. Prostate - Prostate specific antigen (PSA) test

Finding cancer early can make a difference.

When cancers are diagnosed early before they have had the chance to spread, the overall 5-year survival rate is 4x higher than when diagnosed in later stages. 

How does the Galleri test work?

• All cells in your body release DNA into the bloodstream
• But, DNA from cancer cells is different from the DNA of healthy cells.
• The Galleri test looks at the DNA in your blood to determine if any of it may have come from cancer cells and if the answer is yes, where in the body it is coming from.

Who can benefit?

The Galleri test is recommended for use in adults with an elevated rise for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older. 

The Galleri test is intended to be used in addition to, and not replace, other cancer screening tests recommended for you such as mammography, colonoscopy, PSA or cervical cancer screening.

How can I get the test?

Message your care team in your patient portal to request a Galleri test, or call the office during regular business hours.  Your provider will determine if the test is right for you.

Do I need to fast for the blood draw?

No, fasting is not required

How long does it take to get my Galleri test results?

Typically, result are available within 10 business days (Mon-Fri, excluding holidays) once your blood sample is received at the GRAIL laboratory.

Is the Galleri test covered by insurance?

Currently, the Galleri test is not covered by insurance.  The Galleri test is new to the market and represents a significant innovation to cancer screening.  GRAIL is actively pursuing coverage from various sources; however this process takes time.

How much does the Galleri test cost?

The price for Galleri test (GRAIL) is typically $959.99 but is $749.99 for Inspired Health Group patients. Patients can utilize their Health Savings Account or Flex Spending Account to pay for this test. Additionally, GRAIL does offer a payment plan of $79.00 a month, until the $749.99 balance is paid.
