PART 2: “SEASON OF GRATITUDE”
Psalm 100:1-5
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.
Continuing in this writing are selections from written Hymns that reflect praise & thanksgiving to God the giver of all life:
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
“Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed most glorious, the Ancient of Days
Almighty victorious, Thy great name we praise
Un-resting, unhasting & silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rul-est in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness & love.
To all life, Thou giv-est, to both great & small,
In all life Thou liv-est, the true life of all;
We blos-som flourish like leaves on the tree,
Then wither & perish; but naught chang-eth Thee.”
Christ of the Upward Way
“Christ of the upward way, My guide divine, Where You have set Your feet,
May I place mine: & move & march wherever You have trod, Keeping face forward up the hill of God.
Give me the heart to hear Your voice & will, That without fault or fear I may fulfill Your purpose with a glad & holy zest,
Like one who would not bring less than the best.
Christ of the upward way, My guide divine, Where you have set Your feet May I place mine.
And when your last call comes serene & clear, Calm may my answer be, Lord, I am here”
When we recognize God & the goodness & beauty of all that He has created & all that He gives to us, it will turn our hearts from the suffering, indifference, hopelessness & despair of life that we experience from time to time, into praiseful, prayerful & hopeful rejoicing, which will naturally fill our hearts with the peace that surpasses all earthly understanding. As we step into this Season of Gratitude this year, may we each pause & prayerfully celebrate our renewed sense of gratitude, making each day Thanksgiving day.
AMEN
